Fixed implant teeth, fixed implant dentures or fixed prostheses are not removable by the patient. They are fastened onto the dental implant and feel more like natural teeth. An implant bridge is one type of fixed dental prosthetic replacement. There are several types of materials that can be used to fabricate replacement teeth. Implant bridges can be made of porcelain fused to an underlying metal framework. We can also make the prosthesis entirely from zirconia as it is a hard ceramic material that resists chipping. Zirconia has been used in dentistry for the fabrication of artificial teeth for many years so we have confidence in its use for this application. In some cases, we offer a “hybrid” prosthesis that is made using denture teeth and an acrylic processed onto a metal framework.
